Sorry, but it was the dirt tracks, wood boards, and bricks that started racing nearly 100 years ago. Why on earth would we not use those tracks to continue racing on with today's high tech race cars?
Years ago, when a car did fantastic in Europe, it would come to the US to ride the boards... and when a car did well in the US, it would go to Europe to race against the factory teams on their GP's, and city streets.
One of the first US cars to go to Europe was nothing other then the famous Packard 299 race car driven by Ralf DePalma around 1916. Not only did the Packard have the strongest engine, it had who many considered to be the best driver... who managed to whoop the Euro factory cars/ teams/ drivers with a low production (one of two) 299 CID 60 degree OHC V12, and chassis to suite it...all across the old world
