Default I'm never going to spain again

Alright so i just spent the last two weeks travelling the cote d'azur with my grandparents and we ended the trip with a few days in Barcelona.

So we went to some modern art museum and our driver parked the car right in front of the museum like as close to the door as you could be. Me, my cousin, and my grandmother then go into the museum but my grandfather stayed in the car cause he as a bad back and can't walk that far. So while he's in the car napping two dudes come up to the car open the back door grab me and my cousin's bags hop on their scooters and drive off.

So all my cd's, books, and traveler's checks are now gone and their's basically no way of recovering them. And even if the cops find the two guys they wont be punished because according to spanish law theft cannot be punished unless they use violence. So if you dont wanna get your shit stolen dont go to Spain.

So, if I steal the keys to a Ferrari, and drive away with it, I can't be punished if I didn't use violence??? WTF!!

That's what the police said when they came it might just be for minor thefts but i'm not sure. IMO the worst part is if i had chased em down and used violence on them i would be arrested and they would be fine.

sum how i find that hard to beleive, sounds to me that the police just didnt want to have the hassle of sorting it out seen as u was a tourist and wouldnt be staying, they could get away with it,i mean if your CD's,books and travellers cheques which are pretty much just money no matter were that is in the world, stealing money is a theft and people would be punished,so as i said seems to me the police just couldnt be bothered to sort it out

Have to say, I doubt Spain have made theft legal I think Ghostbat has hit the nail on the head....which in some respects is just as bad.

that the cops don't want to bother

And yeah you can get your shit stolen no matter where you are even in suburbia I know people who get shit stolen out of their cars all the time and they can claim it to the cops but what's the point you'll never get it back.

If the police can't be arsed to enforce a law, then there is no point having the law. Therefore, it is just as bad to have lazy cops as no law at all.

Yeah, the best you can possibly do is just make sure you've got everything insured, especially when your on holiday.
