Bye bye hockey, hello curling
No more NHL......don't know what's gonna occupy my tv watching. Damn Betman. Possibly figure skating, although I hear its not really a sport. So what's replacing 'the fastest game on ice'? I am routing for curling

People are boo hooing a lot about it here. Hockey is a big thing here, so, all the fans, players and local business owners are pissed.
I for one, understand the players arguement. I wouldn't want to be told I can't make anymore than an x amount of money.
I hope it gets worked out, I like to watch hockey. But in the end, I can live without it.

I read/heard about this....suprisingly maybe (being an Aussie) I am actually interested in hockey and read alot about it on espn.com.
However we don't get much of it on TV over here, only a game or two per week on pay TV.

Well I don't know if u guys on the east have some sort of smaller version of the NHL but here we still have the Western Hockey League. Unfortunately it's not as entertaining as the NHL but it's still hockey.

I know this is offtopic, but Max Power Where did you get that picture in your avatar from? If I can remember correctly That is Volga Coupe that was build on on 8 series BMW chassis by some Russian company called A Level. I want to see more pics of it.
Back on topic, how did the lockout start?

NHL is going broke. They want the players to have a salary cap, and they don't want to be told how much money they can make. So, the NHL is losing money hand over fist. So, all games are put on hold untill some agreement can be made.

Would the salary cap be the same for every team and every player?

IIRC, it was something like $500,000 a year. For some players, thats a pay cut of over a million a year.

Salary cap suppose to be 31 mill, so the Penguins can afford and keep their players such as Jagr, Straka, Kovalev, Fleury and 90% of their talent they sold away.....Lemieux better not retire cause of the lockout....
