This problem is universal.

I have met 20 somethings, 30 somethings, 40 somethings and 50 somethings who have little clue.

You cannot really blame someone who has no interest in cars for not knowing volumes.. but I do see the point that they shouldn't just make stuff up either.

I dont find it too annoying. I mean every one cant know everything about everything. And it feels good to know stuff that other dont. Its good to be able to help people with car shit.

I find it very funny to see what ppl who don't know anything about cars have to say about them. And then of course I prove them wrong if their statement is totally wrong.

It's even worse that people who drive cars have no clue about driving ...

I was once walking down a busy road here in huddersfield wit ma mate, and when a decent car passed by I was making a fuss saying wow thats a nice car, as I always do. Anyway ma mate who I had only known for about 2 weeks did'nt really take much notice and I thought fair enough not everyone is into cars. We was walking through a car park when all of a sudden he sprung into action shouting, "wow that is a badass car over there, I'm gunna get one of them" So i thought cool, I turned around to see he was having a fit over , it was a smart roadster

So its true, not all people seem to have a understanding of cars, at least all of us do on JW

It doesn't bother me too much that most people know close to zero about cars. I mean, when some guy starts talking about football I just kind of nod my head...but then again I don't try and make up stuff about football like some people try and make up stuff about cars...

I do wish people would take the time to learn basic things about cars, like that there are automatic and manual transmissions and that the oil needs to be changed once in a while...

HA! I've gotten in some arguments with parts stores that made me want to cry. CSK auto parts hires some of the DUMBEST people they can find. I applied to one in high school and so did another kid that went to school with me. they hired him over me, and he had gotten dropped from the auto tech class for being a dumbass!

two weeks later i got into an argument with him over who made the Charger..he thought it was Ford

One store in arizona tried to tell me that the alternator they were selling me was good after the diode light came on when they had it on the tester. I haven't been back to one since.

I hear that.

This is exactly why manufacturers can get away with making crappy cars. People dont know about what makes a good car and buy on style/badge factor.

The worst is when people neglect their cars through ignorance and dont realise how unroadworthy they have become.
