Default AMS CLS55 vs M5...who wins ;)?

AMS tested M5 and CLS AMG back to back ... here are the numbers:
0-100 km/h M5 4,7 CLS 4,7 sec
0-160 km/h M5 10,0 CLS 10,3
0-180 km/h M5 12,2 CLS 12,8
0-200 km/h M5 14,8 CLS 15,5

Breaking from 190 km/h to 0 km/h = M5 137m CLS 139m (cold brakes)

18m Slalom (unloaded) = M5 65,3 km/h CLS 62,9 km/h
ISO-Slalom (unloaded) = M5 = 138,5 km/h CLS 136,6 km/h

Not bad ... CLS wins the test against the M5 because of better comfort and less fuel consumption .. at the same time its not really less fast ??!!

Funny ... the CLS even wins the chapter "powertrain" by 77 to 71 points ???

I know its slower but the fact that Germany's most respcted magazine chose it over the M5, its gobsmacking!

the only point that cls can lose point is its front headlamps. i think theh could design them better. but the general package is still very sexy and good looking. will there be a squential gearbox like the new m5 did

It's really interesting to see that they prefer the CLS rather than the M5. A car with so many of fans all over the world.

I don't mind what they say. I prefer the M5, like many people for sure.

In all fairness I think it's a little strange comparision. I don't think that many people actually chose between these two cars. If you're in the market for a CLS then you propably don't think about buying a M5 and vice versa..

CLS is more sportier than E55. Same with 5-series vs 6-series. With that conclusion, if the test was between E55 and M5, the difference between them would be much larger than this.

a real comparison would be M6 vs CLS55 and M5 vs E55.

And 15.5 sec for CLS is it really good? Isnt E55 faster than this?
And another funny thing, in the test in Autozeitung the clocked M5 0-200km/h in 13.9 sec and 0-100km/h in 4.4 sec, here is one 1 second slower to 200km/h. Very strange.

AMG will be working on DSG gearboxes, but they said the technology was 4-5 years away.

The successor to the CLS55 will be the CLS63, it will have a 6.3 N/A V8 with just over 500hp and 600NM and 7G Tronic.

whats more important for BMW fans, this is what AMS says:

winner of the review is the cls with 515 to 513 points for the m5. the tester said, the m5 is the sportier car, more driving pleasure, great smg, better than previous versions, big fun to drive...

Hard to decide which i´d take, but since i´m a Merc freak and i think that AMG is the best tuner in the world, i´d take the CLS. It looks awesome from the outside and the interior is mindblowingly well made aswell.

Exactly. These test times appear slightly SUS to me. I am completely biased toward BMW, however in comparing these results to the other 20 + articles i have read on the M5 this magazine seems very contradictory and odd.
