You know what would rule?
If people stopped using those giant .gif's in ther signatures. I know most of you are on cable connections and don't even notice. I'm on 56k and I do notice.
Some pages take far too long to load. Some never load. Many times I sit here waiting for 5 minutes before anything appears. Then I'm able to read the whole page and move onto the next page before they are done loading. It's very irritating.
It's making JW extremely slow to browse. Even posting a reply takes a long time.
As cool as some of them are, it's just too much.
Please please please! Take them out or at least make them smaller! It would be greatly appreciated if you did so! Or just use a simple jpeg, those aren't a big deal.
I'm not saying I'll stop coming to JW, that'll never happen. But making them smaller or removing them would help a ton!
Otherwise, could a feature be implemented to block them all? At another forum I visit, I can block all avatars in my profile. If the same could be done for sig pics, I'd love whoeve does it forever in a purely heterosexual way!!!

Sounds good to me man, that's part of the reason I only have an avatar and no sig. When I go home and use my parent's 56k connection I have enough time to go grab a snack while some of the pages load.

hey sorry, didnt realize it was effecting you that much..i'll work on it, but i know some browsers like maxthon have the option to block selected images types such as .gifs. hope that helps

I cant agree with you more! I use slow internet connection when I am in my country for vacations, I try to get to JW, but I get so irritated by the big images people put on their sig or their animate gifs
That is why I use black and white mostly on my pics (less colors, less size depending on compression you use)

I am also on 56K and really don't have a problem...this site loads very fast for me. What I do sometimes is let the page load so that all the posts on that page are viewable and then click 'stop' in the browser so that the remaining pics don't load.....just an idea you could try.

Its not a problem for me, but if everyone wants them removed then its not a problem with me, mine is 30KB BTW if its a problem to anyone then i'll remove it.... having tried to access JW on 56k i can appreciate the problem

Cool well your sig is certainly always interesting, particularly the awesome links you put in it , if anyone hasn't clicked it i would recommend it if your need a laugh

Althoughyeah,that irittates me too. Even with my DSL connection downloading 300kb's gifs can be iritating. And amazing how often I have to clean my temp internet files because of this.
My avatar and sig take up 20kb's. I'm sure no harm would be done if everybody was alike.

Like I said guys, the pics are fine. They load up instantly, it's the folks with big gifs.

When JW first started, I recommened not allowing sig pics at all! As you can see, I lost.

its an improovement, but compare yours with myne. Myne is longer and taller
