A pretty good engine that's for sure...The same biturbo gimmick appeared in the Vectra OPC concept with an even higher HP/L ratio. (212hp/1.9l)

Lets hope it will make its way into petrol engines as well.

Btw Alfa Romeo intends to develop something of a very similar kind...A 3.0l MJTD developing 300 horses flat.

Yes, and in 3 series ...
530 Nm in 1500 rpm and 40 or 60 kg lighter than V8 diesels so V8 4.0 Diesel had no change

st-anger, what magazine is that article from? It seems interesting in terms of automotive engineering, but still a little vague. You're an automotive engineer, what's the best source for learning about these new developments?

I've seen a portuguese magazine with a tuned 535d with 356bhp  and 750 Nm of torque  . Really amazing. I'll try to by the mag to put the scans here.

...well, we have some mags here at work - this article is from "automotive technology" - there´re quite some mags which are industry only, u can´t buy them in a store, besides i have to say that most articles in that mags would be kinda "uninteresting" for ppl who don´t have a proper background - i don´t read most of the stuff myself...

Some modifiers in a nearby town also offer a performance ECU for the engine which supposedly delivers roughly 340hp then.
