Thanks mate The F430 is impressive but I am not sure it would keep up with the GT2 on a longer distance ..

In case none of you noticed that is the GT2 I was in earlier this year, and thats the owners new F430 he picked up last week.

At the time of this drag the GT2 only had a 1/4 tank of petrol while the F430 was totally full - so a disadvantage to the GT2 there.

The F430 just won this battle, but I think it could go either way on any given day - lets hope he brings both out to Alice Springs next year and we'll see for real.

EDIT: here are a couple of vids of the F430 and his CS....

two damn sweet cars, and i thought i recognized the gt2

i suppose if i had to choose, the GT2 would be in my garage, but the F430 has the looks for sure.

Dingo, do you mean the GT2 had the advantage, by having less weight to accellerate? fuel is about 7lbs per gallon, so it would be closer to its dry weight then the ferrari would be.

in any case, i can see it going both ways until going about 120+ i think the GT2 would be the one pushing ahead

well , well , well , where do i start . after picking up the 430 on wednesday and driving it back to brisbane thursday , it is appealing to me more and more . i will note some of the differences between the 430 and the CS.

1: 430 has more torque and HP , it pulls harder from all gears as would be expected . a short race against my GT2 which i was driving and the 430 just won . the 430 had a full tank of fuel ( 95 litres ) and the GT2 was a quarter full ( 15 litres ) plus the 2 weighs in at about 1370 kg and the 430 would be 1500 kg . on the figures the 430 is outstanding but the porsche had the grunt over 3 years ago.

That would be the owner, by the way.

Thanks to give me the context. That explain why you said the owner of this F430 was the "winner" in this 50 meters race video. I thought that you said seriously that a Ferrari F430 was faster than Porsche GT2. This is why I said to you "not in reality", because you know like me that all test results show the 996 GT2 even the old 993 GT2 are faster than a F430 in term of 0-100 km/h and 1/4 miles numbers.

One thing is sure, the next Porsche 997 GT2 will accentuate even more this difference.
