Default Jon Stewart set to host Oscars

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Movi...eut/index.html

this could only mean two things....

1st
the oscars will suck (stewart even if you love him like I do, he makes everyone look @ him like conan does, and that isn't what you want in a host @ the oscars)

2nd
largest veiwing audience will be 12-16 year old male sub-urban east and west coast and canadian kids

@toronto

I don't really think Stewart does that conan thing where he makes fun of himself until you're sick...I think he'll be a pretty good host

Did you happen to catch his infamous crossfire appearance?

I don't think it has anything to do with making a statement, I just think they're trying to find a good host, someone intelligent, funny, and not (too) insulting

It's nice to see a little variation. Would you rather have Billy Crystal up there again? Or Chris Rock with his lame "I've been doing the same joke for 15 years" bit?

For different reasons I kind of agree with Toronto.. Not that I watch the Oscars in the first place, but Stewarts style just doesnt seem to fit persenting a show. He was persenting on Crossfire he was arguing... Something completely different.

I only brought up the Crossfire thing to show that he can be different from the goofy Daily Show persona...

I can't really think of anyone else that I'd rather see hosting

Isn't "Rescue Me" a drama?

I think the only thing I saw him in was Double Whammy...that was a great movie :roll:

Well there's a script...and the producers have a say in it of course...

But the academy can't control everything, which is why they occasionally have to resort to the "we'll just turn up the music so nobody can hear what you're saying" approach

I've never really heard much about this bloke. Evidently doesn't appeal to an international audience.
