Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) makes this list every half year. Over 100 factors helps in the list come through. Everything from soap, cars, diners, cafès, resturants, houses, etc


1. Oslo - Norway - 140 (does'nt surprise me...)

2. Tokyo - Japan - 136

3. Reykjavik - Island - 135

4. Osaka Kobe - Japan - 130

4. Paris - France - 130

6. København - Denmark - 127

7. London - England - 125

8. Zürich - Switzerland - 123

9. Geneva - Switzerland - 116

10. Helsinki - Finland - 115

27. New York - USA -

35. Chicago - USA -

A Big Mac is about $5,30 in Norway.

i was always told that sydney had the highest land tax, and rents cost per square meter...
but it isn't even on that list. i guess the 98 "other" facts hold more weight


... no monaco???

Of course you know that Monterrey is more expensive than Mexico city. If mexico eats 100% of your income.. Mty is around 110%

I guess it is considered as a state and not a city I am surprised by the first one, didn't even imagine that. I am also surprised that Paris is before London. My Brother in Law lived in both and he doesn't have the same POV ...
