Default British petrol price cutting scheme Pipeline

Just got sent this by my mate, thought it was a load of balls at first, but i had a read and it doesnt appear to be a scam as far as i can see, but i dont quite understand how he intends to get this discount, but signing up is free, and he intends to save 5-10p per litre, which would come as a welcome saving to me (as long as he does it on high octane stuff )

Anyways, this is for UK residents only, jut thought i'd bring it to peoples attention if they didnt already know about it. Filling up yesterday at 1.04 per litre  kinda sparked my enthusiasm for this!

Cheers

In Australia, when you shop at some supermarkets, you get discounted petrol at a selected petrol company. But this idea is just so much better.

I paid $1.16 a litre today, for petrol, BTW, just to give you an idea of petrol prices in metropolitan Sydney.

SO it is a "Charge Card" of some kind? Where you buy the petrol using this new card as the purchase tool?

I mean how would PipeLine know you bought some pettrol at Habib Shalom's petrol station?... And how will Habib Shalom now you belong to PipeLine?

Seems like a very clever way to recruit a captive customer base for a Diners Club style credit card

Ahhh, didn't get that out of the small bit that I read, they'll be making loads more profit from high interest charges than they will discount on the petrol then.

I know. Petrol prices in Europe are much higher than in Australia. The US have it nice and cheap, which is why they can still afford to maintain home-sized SUVs.

Local gasoline price dropped 10c a gallon over the last few days, so I filled up -- no discount card required..

Damn. I wish that would happen here. This idea is really very good. I wish they'd implement something like this in Australia.

I don't either. I think it cuts deals with certain petrol suppliers and says "Look, all my card-carrying mates will buy petrol from you, at this lowered price, but we'll definitely buy from you, so you'll always get our business".
