Corvette C6 Z06 vs. Ferrari 360 Modena
In the last Corvette thread I saw alot of talk comparing the Z06 and the 360. Which I think is pretty dumb. The Z06 was designed to take on the Viper, not the 360. But since it has been repeatedly mentioned, what does everyone else think of that comparison? Z06 vs. 360...

There is a straightline comparison there but as far as handling through the twisties, the 360 definitely has the edge...

Modena in terms of quality, handling, luxury, and styling.
The modena in terms of straight line versus the c5. Unknown against the c6.

Current Z06 vs 360 Modena is a straightline win and a track win.
There are a number of Z06 drivers who have come up against 360's at track days, and the Z06 is able to power and handle past the 360 in the right hands.
On the street, I have yet to have a Houston F360 pass me in a street encounter - the car just does not have the sheer grunt we do.
Perhaps the fear of wrecking their $200,000 cars is what keeps the 360 drivers from reaching for the envelope.
Believe it or not...
360 will probably give the C6 coupe a good run for it's money - almost a whipping... as it does against the current C5 coupe.
p.s. I would love to run up against a F360 CS sometime to see how that encounter goes...

well, according to R&T, 1/4 mile times are even and the 360 stops a lil better. And while most people make the opposite assumption, skidpad tests prove the vette can out turn the ferrari.
the Z06 and ferrari 360 are so close, it would make for great grudge match racing. I'd love to see something like that made into a TV series.

i'd like to see them race. and even if the Z06 lost (which wouldn't be by much) it doesn't matter. the thing is a quarter of the price of the ferrari. what you have to watch out for in this discussion is if we are talking about purely on the track or including actually owning one. it makes a huge difference. if we are only talking about the track, then interior means absolutely jack shit and the Z06 would be much easier and cheaper to maintain and work on. if we talked about actually living with the car every day and so on, in the ferrari you would obviously get more looks but the money it takes to keep up that thing as a daily driver would not even be in the same universe as in a corvette so i really don't care what you say about quality. you will still pay more in bills on the ferrari anyway. and talking about the excitement and tradition felt in driving a ferrari gets thrown out obviously because that is totally subjective and someone could feel the same away about finally owning their dream car, the corvette. if i was just going to garage the thing and drive to restaurants in the car and look like a badass i would get the ferrari. but if i actually wanted to DRIVE the car i would get the Z06.

A stock Z06 will beat a stock 360 in the 1/4 every time.
As far as a road course goes...not sure..but I'd bet it would be a much closer race than most would think. I'd probably put my money on the ferrari, just because thats what it's designed for.

I guess no-one bothered reading my post about actual Z06 vs 360 street encounters - and the track-day stories told by some Z06 drivers of 360 encounters... *shrug*

The Z06 is a great track car. I'm just saying that the ferrari is specificaly designed for a track while the Z06 is is just as focused on straight line acceleration as it is for a road course. It is also a great track car, but not as good as the ferrari.

A skidpad and a racing circuit are two different things.

They sure are - which is why you won't find a 360 entered in T1 - the 360 just cannot cut it until it is full race-spec tuned... hence the 360 Challange series and other "full support" race classes that are the only places you will find a Ferrari360 running...
... and you know the irony??? When ever the Z06 and the 360 get together in "full class" spec racing, the 360 gets whooped so bad, it is a full class back in the field.. in other words the racing organizers consider the Z06 and 360 in different classes... I think that by definition is being out-classed LOL
Oh - and further up the food chain, the C5-R often hands the 550M it's ass on a platter when they meet...
....next question?
