Default Thoughts on Solstice Targa

I'll be honest, I really liked the looks of the Pontiac Solstice when it came out. When I first saw a black one on the freeway I though it was some unknown expensive European roadster.

Also being that the car had the GXP model with considerably more power than the competition out there.

Then I saw pictures of the targa version from the new york auto show this year.

This looks 10x better and is supposed to have a revised engine. I love my stang and all, but I'm honestly thinking of getting one of these when they are released.

I was randomly browsing a Saturn Sky Forum and one member had both a 'stang and a Sky redline . . . he was selling the Mustang. That made me really sad (despite how cool the solskies are).

My prioritized list of new cars to buy goes as follows:

1 - Mustang GT
2 - Solstice
3 - Corvette
4 - R8
5 - Pontiac G8 GT just to add some 4 door sensibility to the mix

While I might not actually get to buy any of those new, I'll definitely be all over the used market in the coming years.

Anyway, you'd be getting rid of my favorite new car for my second favorite new car, hehe . The only advice I have is to consider some of the more noticable pros and cons. Fuel mileage and lack of bulk side with the Solstice, but the Mustang does have more usable cargo space and seating . . . and a V8. Overall, t depends on how you generally use the vehicle. Ok, I'm going to stop being captain obvious now. Good luck . . . you should atleast get some good test driving in for us, perhaps with some other options as well.

The Solstice Targa looks so much better the the roadster. I just wish they'd make a Sky hard top. In any case, if you sell your mustang and buy the Solstice, be sure to take it on a windy road and then you'll realize you made the right choice

^He can always keep his Mustang, you know. Nothing beats an honest V8.

I test drove a corvette and a solstice the other day ( I am looking for a new car for myself ) I like them both, unfortunetly the Missus also test drove a Pontiac G6.... now we have one of those monstrosities in the driveway, it's her money and she works so I do still hope to get me a new car soon, it will be a toss up between the vette and the Solstice as they are both beautiful, although the corvette is insane fast as all hell, good job chevy

^ the G6 isn't a bad looking car but it's not what I'd call "Pontiac excitement." Maybe she can still take it back for a G8? Good luck with your car search.
