Default Is it just me, or is the Bugatti Veyron a very good value for money?

Relatively speaking that is.

Somehow Aston Martin sold all of the butt ugly One-77s despite the $1.8 million price tag.

And all Lamborghini had to do was come up with some snazzy body panels for the Murciélago and charge $1.2 million more.

Yet Bugatti engineered a whole new car and spent whoknowshowmuch for 6 very long years to put a 1000hp, 253mph luxury GT hypercar on the road and asked just $1.4 million for one. Compared to the other two, it seems like you're getting a lot more than what you paid for.

I think that limiting the car to 20 or 30 units worldwide makes them really pricey, also supercar performance (not like the one on the Veyron) but a really respectful performance, I think it makes the rich collector enthusiast pay whatever it takes to get one....

But back on your topic, yeah, I think the Veyron is the best value for money......

yeah it is a good "value" for performance, but with the Aston and the Lambo they are putting a price on exclusivity...I suppose you could say the price of a supercar is a function of performance, luxury, and exclusivity...those two are just top loaded with exclusivity.

I'd rather have the Veyron, but I guess if you wanna be just one out of handful of people to own a car I could see the appeal of the others...not that they are bad cars either!

Noway mang.... for 1.5 mill.. I would rather buy a GT-R and then use the rest of the money to travel round the world beating up on supercars...

And let's be honest. It's not like they're going to make a million Veyrons either. When was the last time you one cruising down your neighborhood?

You are right - I should have stated that you would need the balance of the 1.5 mil. to pay for the maintenance and repair of the GT-R....

I'm sure they make money on each Veyron in terms of individual production cost. I just wonder how many they would need to sell to break even given the cost of the car's development.

It's kind of like how PS3's were all "sold at a loss" initially, not so much because of production costs, but because of development costs.

In all honesty though, if I had the means, I would have one in a heartbeat and drive it everyday - rain or shine.

I would even take one Veyron over a CGT and an Rt12 plus change.

hmm, on the topic of a fantasy everyday driver, I might take an RS4 or new CTS-V.

Anyway, buying an S7 would have made for exclusivity at a very reduced price. Saleen really intended to produce and sell many more than they did. It's not the same level of refinement, but I expect they'll only really go up in price.

My angle wasnt really exclusivity fo rthe price - just the most brutally refined daily driver on the planet
