You take the HP, you divide for the weight of the car in tons and you get hp / ton
A 1000 kg car with 100 hp -> 100 hp / 1 ton = 100 hp per ton

Oh .... divide the weight of the car for 1000 , then divide the bhp for that number
if you have 1.5 ton car , divide per 1 , then its 1.5
300hp / 1.5 ton = 200hp per ton
is that ?

I had to go with the simpler example ever to make it right BTW  I suck at everything related to maths

ok, so an example:
bhp=300
weight=1685kg
300/1685=0.1784..........
0.1784x1000=178bhp/ton??

It'd be easier to just out the kg straight into metric tons from the get go (i.e. 1685 kg = 1.685 ton)

bhp/ton....very straight forward just like any other example,,,,how do you get m/s?? Divide distance in meters by time in seconds- you kind of answered your own question.
