EVO VIII RS
I have been trying to read up about this car and have found little info. It is a striped down EVO VIII (no ac, electric windows locks, abs radio etc) There is some info online but i was looking for a review or a comparo between it and the normal evo. Also looks like the rear wing on the evo really does not do any thing as it was removed from this hard core version. Also it looks like we are going to get this in the USA yay!!!

yes just about every magazine has been reviewing this car and it seems to be much better than the standard and much lighter/cheaper. it also has the Japanese style drivetrain with the front diff. also a brace in the stripped out no carpet trunk. also no ABS or HID's on the car aswell as listed above but there is supposed to be an "urban assault" version with power features and AC. Also note the black plastic door handles and mirrors (hand adjust only, no litle lever to adjust them period you have to roll down the window and adjust them)

who is reviewing it, i get car and driver and pick up road and track. Maybe im not on top of things.
Also the wing is an option with the evo VIII its not standard, tho most at dealers have them.
I think i have that best motoring video with the RS

thats odd, i thought the EVO's wings were fully functionable and adjustable... I guess its not really a top-speed car so it doesnt need downforce as much for traction, just relies on the 4wd. Regardless, EVOS KICK ASS!

I think the Evo looks great with or without the wing. Maybe they found another way to get downforce to the rear end. Its also good for American customers that Mitsubishi is losing the wing because I heard many people were getting tickets for the oversized wing even though it is original equipment. People are even getting ticked for the altezza lights on the Lexus RX330, IS300 (real Atezza) and the Evo. America is one crazy country lol.

the latest lightweight evo is called the Evo VIII MR not the RS. I think the pic you posted is just a regular evo 8 or maybe even a lancer 8 with the evo front body kit without the rear wing. The evo 8 MR can be tuned in the UK for 330 bhp, so imagine this, carbon fiber everything with 330bhp. Unfortunately the MR is only slated for release in Japan, and as far as i know the most powerful evo aside from that (which you can buy not tune yourself that is) still belong to the Evo 8 FQ 330.

If I'm not mistaken, FQ stands for fucking quick right? I read somewhere that this is the real meaning.

Evo VIII MR is the eight and a half version of Evo.. The picture shown above is what the US offer us.. a stripped down Evo VIII with cheaper price tag...

wow..then it's unfortunate. The Evo VIII RS does look a little weedy, no offense. An evo's supposed to look stupidly muscular, and the lack of rear wing causes the whole shape to look no different to a regular lancer.

I think that US-spec VIII RS is stupid. I'd take an STi anyday because at least you know you are getting the genuine, best model available. Face it, the US Evo's suck compared to the European (especially UK) models and the JDM. According to reports done, there isn't even significant lap time depretiation.
