Default MICHEL VAILLANT

Has anyone seen the movie yet? I downloaded a trailer of the movie at http://www.michelvaillant-lefilm.com that said something about the end of november 2003. Maybe that was the release date for the film in France, so that's why I ask. Starting next thursday it's going to be in cinemas in the Netherlands.

I just want to know whether it's any good. Visually, the trailer promises some good action, but I'm scared the rest of the film could be as lame as the Taxi movies. I'm hoping for the best, since I read in a magazine they shot the movie during last year's Le Mans race. The movie team had two cars with real racing car drivers actually participating in the race!

I used to read the comics when I was a kid, which were great. But if it would make a great movie... There must be some people on this forum that saw it, right?

Maybe yg60 or for sure somebody else from France..

Anyway IMO the car scenes could be very nice.. I saw quite a few TV specials about it... but not sure if the whole plot is worth or not...

That's what I'm afraid of too...

It's very much possible we have to wait till the morning to get an answer to this one. Everyone on our side of the ocean is going to bed or already asleep and I doubt that a lot of US/Canadian members have seen this movie. Wrong timing I guess...

It's based on French comic book racing car driver Michel Vaillant and his racing team Vaillant. Basically, they're the good guys and the Leader team are the bad guys. The comics featured lots of different racing classes and had very realistic car drawings and all kinds of people from real racing. The plot usually was thin, but the races were exciting. Now a movie has been made about this, set at Le Mans. You can download a trailer at the url in my first post.

So the movie only covers the LeMans race I guess... sure the scenes during the race are pretty exciting as far as I could see so far...

I was just checking the Internet movie database and it got only 95 votes... very very low and the average vote is not pretty good... 4.6/10

And I also read this: [i]Ok, it's a bad adaptation, and the source material (the comics by Jean Graton) is never, ever there[/img] ...

It's nice to see, some nice shots, but don't expect to much from it. Storyline is rather weak, so if you're going for the storyline you'd better stay home and watch some porn.
Yeah, we're always being served last here in the Netherlands when it comes to movies. But remember that Belgium is probably viewed upon by the producers as a (partly) French speaking nation. We were bound to see it later than you guys.

I pretty much expected it, but every time a new movie about cars and races is released I hope for it to be a good movie in all aspects. Why is it so difficult?
