I didn't think they would get her, but they did.
They found her guilty of Obstruction of Justice and providing false statements. Basically she lied to the investigators.
She is now facing 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count. That means the maximum is 20 years and a $1 million fine!
Sentencing to be on June 17

The newspeople seem to think she'll get some prison time. I do too, but I don't think she'll get 20 years. I don't think she'll get more than 5 years.

Now it's time to go after the Enron and Worldcom executives.

No, she belongs in prison. She broke the law and deserves to do time. Just because she's a famous billionaire doens't mean she is above the law. She knew what she was getting herself into when she lied to the investigators. She deserves everything she gets.

She was tipped off by Sam Waskal who was the CEO of Imclone. Their latest drug was not going to be approved by the FDA. Which meant the stocks would drop. He told Martha, she sold the stocks. She had to know it was illegal, but she did it anyway.
She saved herself a whopping $40,000. Does that amount matter to a billionaire? No, it doesn't. For the record, Sam Waskal got 7 years in prison.

Just because she didn't hurt anybody, doesn't mean she didn't commit a crime. Do the crime, do the time. Like I said before, she knew what she was getting herself into.

She knew it was illegal to sell those stocks, she knew it was illegal to obstruct an investigation and she knew it was illegal to provide false information. It's her fault, she belongs in jail. Had she just cooperated and told the truth, she would have probably just gotten a fine and walked away from it. She chose not too.

Go read a newsreport. She wasn't convicted of insider trading. This is all about her lies and obstruction of justice. It has nothing to do with insider trading.

The jail sentence and the fines are only a small part of the price that
she will pay in the long run. The biggest price that she will pay is the
loss of her company which will inevitably go to the pot quite soon. The
reason why her company will go down is because it is so closely tied
to her, in fact it basically is her, so when she goes down the company
goes down.

ya know, i love it when people criticize a justice system, yet decide to leave a suggestion out as to what would be better. you dont wanna put em in jail.....ok, what do you propose people have done to them when they commit a crime such as this? fine them and just let them go. nice....slap em on the hand and let em leave it at that? you also seem to forget there are different amounts of security for different prisons....they dont put everyone in the same thing. in fact the chances of someone like her being put into something like a maximum security prison is totally senseless. believe it or not some judges do care about what happens after some of these people are put away and do not put them in direct danger with people such as mass murders and drug lords.
so many people outside of the US love to criticize our system, but they are terribly ignorant about it and fail to realize every other system on earth literally pales in comparison in terms of fairness and true justice. granted im sure you will come back and say something about the number of people who are deemed guilty but are innocent blah blah blah. the fact of the matter is that is VERY far from common, but i doubt you would have known that anyways.

She deserves to go to jail for 5 years and the million dollar fine, as she used insider trading to her advantage and this is striclty illegal, I mean $ 40,000 profit to a billionaire is not even 0.00004% of her total worth at maximum. Most people that have invested in this stock are average people trying to get ahead and probably have used their savings to invest in stock and then some stupid bitch is the only person in the world to get a call to say to sell the stock early, and no one else did, so I say fuck her, everyone has to play fair by the rules, but rules can be bent, but she was so fucking stupid about it.

Any one here from Canada will obviously remember Bre-x, the gold stock as one stock broker in Ottawa made over $60 million CDN on the deal, but then he hedged it on other stocks and when Bre-x was going down the tubes he couldn't get rid of it fast enough and he lost his $5 million house and new 993 Turbo, this was in 1996. But the most famous of all is Micheal Copeland the founder of Corel software products, he sold his stock for over $20 million just before the bottom fell out and they are saying that he had knowledge about future quaterly earinings in advance, well, of course he did, he was the CEO, but he was smart and that stupid bitch is not, a homemaker doesn't make a business person, just ask Omerosa from The Apprentice, fuck that bitch was stupid, then she started to cry, served her stupid ass to get FIRED, then she showed up on Jay Leno earlier tonight and started to argue with him and you could tell that he wanted her off the stage, so they went to commercial earlier, it was so funny.
