Australian 'MOTOR' magazine's Performance Car...
...of the Year 2004 winner is - the 'Lamborghini Gallardo'
The Lamborghini finished just ahead of the terrific 'BMW M3 CSL'.
In fact, I recently saw EVO magazine vote this Lamborghini ahead of my favourite, the 'Porsche 911 Turbo' in a head -to- head test...it must be pretty good.
p.s
I'd still take the '911 Turbo' though.

The 'BMW M3 CSL' had the best lap time out on the track, but when they went out on the open road, I think this is where the Lamborghini made up the difference.
They judged the Gallardo as a better all round car where the M3 CSL was maybe a little too focused for the track.
p.s
I agree with you though - I'd prefer the 'BMW M3 CSL'.

Yes - against the Lambrghini (and -ultimately- against ANYTHING).
When I said I'd prefer the BMW M3 CSL - I meant in relation to 'MOTOR' magazine's recent 'Performance Car of the Year 2004' competition.
Unfortunately, there was no 911 in this competition (only the Cayenne Turbo which didn't do well at all)

Not 'almost' legendary - it 'IS' legendary
"Supercars come, supercars go...& some live on - THE 911"
p.s
The 911 is the most over-developed car ever! (40 years in the making)

yes i am a massive fan of motor magazine, and i think the lambo deserved it.
but also what kicked ALOT of arse was the audi RS6
u forgot to mention what killed evreything in 0-100 0-100m and 1/4 mile
if anyone is intrested i mite post the highlights of the motor DVD from the cover of the latest issue,
it was a very close match in the end thoe as you said.
