youve made my day by telling my day by telling me this, yes the bugatti eyron is a smashing car, but if it gets restricted to 350km/ph (hopefully it does) and not 406km/ph den the mclaren f1 will still be the fastest road going production car in the world and still hold the crown for the highest top speed

That is, until Koenigsegg comes in and steals the record away from McLaren.
The Koenigsegg was just entered in the Guiness Book of World Records as the world's most powerful production car, beating McLaren. They will attempt to get the top speed record soon.

This isn't the only way in which VW has gone off the deep end. Why not look at the new Audi LeMans.. gee that seems like it'd compete with the Galardo wouldn't it? Ok so hows about the new Phaeton.. gee that seems a lot like an A8.
And at this years Detroit Auto show they had the new concept C that was surprisingly close to a boxter.. Don't even get me started on the TT/R32.
VW is spending money like a drunken sailor on projects which will eventually bankrupt the company.. THey're just counting on being able to seel enough golfs and lupos to cover the losses, but with the way the Koreans and Japanese have been eating up market share in europe, i don't think that'll work.

All fascinating stuff, but Bugatti has posted its own news on the official website about how "A commitment to the technical design parameters; no compromises have been made to the Bugatti Veyron's ambitious technical specifications." Quote, "1001 PS, 1250 Nm, top speed of over 400 km/h"
It could be that Bugatti/ VW heard these rumours about restricted top speed and power and made maneuvers to save its reputation. Go to http://www.bugatti-cars.de/ to see for yourself, under March news.
I guess our 1mil euro 400kph+ 1001hp supercar will be made to fulfill the concept...unless the official site is lying......which is possible...

Yes yes it's true, but isn't this a way to artificially give birth to another automobile Renaissance? I mean, someone has to start first.

They cannot back up anymore so the car has to be ready next year!!!! We have been waiting to long till the Veyron debue let's all hope the car will be as great as they say. I'm sure happy that they will stick with 1001hp and the claimed topspeed of 406km/h.

welli think a true super car its not just the one that can go to ridiculous speeds, its the one who can perform like wot its called a super car, my personal opinion it is that if any car manufacturer wants they coul make an ultra fast car, if u know the enzo was aimed to go over 400 kmh but it sacrificed lots of performance, and this is not just bout ferrari, look at the mclarenf1, carrera gt, slr, many of them i think if they wnated to put some extra insane power they could but they dont want. as mclaren's f1 designer said "when we took out the f1 we thought ferrari would come out with a faster car but they didnt"
who can run a car @406 kmh, if going 360 is way difficult.
i think the answer is makin a nice supercar one that u can really enjoy, the price i think doesnt matter if u do love cars

The point is they shouldn't of said that the car can go 406km/h and have 1001hp and then say it won't reach or have the claimed speed and HP. Now they presumably have some problems with the handling and performance of the car at high speeds. When the car comes out and it's a joy to drive, I and a lot of ppl will be extremely happy but if it isn't than they have cutted themselves in the fingers real bad and VW/Bugatti has to look real good in the organisation waht has gone wrong.

In the page they say that the car will have 1001 hp and will go more than 400kmh , but they will take the time to reach perfection and send the first cars to their customers in the second half of 2005

the design will be changed radically to fix the stability problems and refrigeration.

The demise of a car like this is sad. This car should be left as is, even though it is after all, very insane. We need cars like this to have some level of sanity in our everyday lives.

Dood, that is hella heavy. . . 690KG = 1521.2 US Pounds. That is amost the weight of a small car. That car must weight close to 5000lbs!!!
Just looking at the car front, doesn't look really aerodynamic too me.
Too bad, McLaren will continue to reign, at least for now. =)
